2 lbs. ground beef (95% lean)
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
(2) 14-oz cans beef broth
(2) 16-oz cans dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
(1) 16-oz can tomato sauce
(1) 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
1/2 cup chili powder
2 TBSP ground cumin
2 TBSP packed brown sugar
2 TBSP fresh jalapenos, chopped
2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1. In a large pot, cook and stir ground beef, onion and green pepper until the meat is brown. Cover and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally; drain fat.
2. Add the beef broth, beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, brown sugar, jalapenos, salt, garlic powder and crushed red pepper to the meat mixture. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hr, stirring occasionally.
